AH, Yeah:flush1: I think I'd rather have a tooth extraction without novacaine before another winter in the snow! If I really miss the snow, I can visit the north for about a day and that would be enough of that. I'd be far happier dealing with our heat in summer than the snow and cold of the yankeeland.

Just back from Chinese language and art lessons with the kids. The 5 year old did a very good job and I think he will pick it all up quickly. It seems the 3 year old has to get used to the teacher first. She showed little interest while there, then came home and started counting in Chinese.

Chief, saw a program on one yankee we could put up with. Norm Abram from "This Old House" and "New Yankee Workshop". Gave me some good ideas regarding the trim for the layout.

Anyway, good to see so many good people here. MS. Marcie, it is a pleasure to see your posts. Please don't hide in the shadows too often, we like you out here with the rest of us.

God BLess,
Dennis

Afternoon all!

Had a good train club meeting this morning. We are approaching 20 members since we reformed the club last fall! Work is progressing on the rebuilt modular layout (16 x 28 feet) for the Thomas event in a couple of weeks. We are rewiring it for faster install and teardown. We got a deal on those two prong trailer light quick disconnect plugs (100 at $1.19 each/pair and handle over 10 amps) and are using them between module sections so all we have to do is connect the plugs. Before we were using terminal strips and wire nuts and it took a couple of hours to get it wired for each show. Now it will be 10 minutes!

Buckeye, Tom, SJ, Chuck, and those nawth of the MD line - have you guys had your snowball fight yet? How are the snow forts coming along?fence1

Just checked outside and hey - it is not snowing here!

Hope yuz giz are having a great day!

Not anything new this morning except at this point the "IT" has just missed us.I'm not going to take a chance and say the word. Chief-I was wondering if you would notice, thats why I listed everything.
Well I am happy to announce that the storm missed us,but came really close. We had wind blown snow most of the day but I guess it ended up in Ohio as everything is clear and dry. The clouds moved out around 6pm and we saw the sun set, but no clouds means 12 degrees tonite. 30 tomorrow. Played with toys today, went outside twice, got the paper this morning and back out for the mail. Everyone stay safe,,,S.J.

Good night everyone. Went to sleep during movie. Well to watch TV, you have to sit up in bed. Now back to sleep. Clocks are already advanced. Sleep tight. Don't let the bed bugs bite. Deep snows in Ohizo. :thumb: AH, what a wonderful dream.

Hey, snow is good for your land, it fixes nitrogen in the soil, right? OTOH, no snow in St. Louis, so it's okay with me! Wife and daughter had a day together doing girl stuff, so my son and I went out to eat, then to an arcade and shot some aliens. I had a 22 percent accuracy (I tend to shoot 3 times out of reflex and only the 1st one counts... Uh, I think that's the reason!?), but I did kill all my aliens. He had a 47 percent accuracy rate and killed all his aliens and apparently also some of mine? No, turns out there were other things you could shoot and I was just paying attention to the bad guys. Yeah, that's it. It's not because he has 34 year younger reflexes than me?! Then we went to a comic book store, but he didn't find what he wanted, so we went back to Borders (just there yesterday).

Finally I made him stop at Lowes with me and picked up 4 sheets of green board drywall. The price wasn't too bad at $8.33. I think last year it was more like $11? They tried to sell me some other kind of "no mold" board, but it was nearly $11 per sheet and I've never used it, so we passed on it.

Then, when we took the drywall to the basement I saw that one of my windows broke?! Only the inside pane broke and nobody has been down there playing or anything. I guess the seal must have broken or something, it got frost on the inside and then heated up too fast or ??? Now, this is the 3rd one of these to break like this since I put these windows in - nearly 1 per Winter. They are in different windows, so I don't think it's extra stress on the frame or something. I think these things have bad seals from the manufacturer. It's been a few years now, so I guess I'll take the pane to a glass shop and see how much to replace the glass. What a pain.wall1

No train action today, except for Buster Keaton (thanks again, Roy Boy!) and a tv show I taped the night before where a guy got to test drive a GE Evolution locomotive - that was cool!

Guess yuz giz are all sleeping now, so TTYL

PS - nice video, Jeffrey! :thumb:

Morning!

At first I saw $900????? ...and I have to build it???? Then I saw the photo. Very cool! I need one of those too! ...I'll need to find some fake snow for the Christmas layout that won't bind up the engines. Then I can use it indoors. The kids will love that! The Bride won't...but the kids will...and it's all for the kids right?

Morning. Up a little early but the clocks were set forward last night. Seems hotel leaves you a letter telling you clocks in room have to be run forward. I found out on my new digital watch, once in set mode, one button forwards the numbers and one reverses the numbers. Will be easy to set back in the fall. BTW: seems the time thing done by Congress and Pres., to save energy, really will result in increasing energy use [per study and reported on NPR]. Ready for hotel room coffee and then shower up. Pretty good breakfast at Holiday Inn Express except no GRITS. [no mushy half brown taters either] Later

Good Morning...............
It's a cold and clear 14 degrees. We have 8 inches of snow on the ground. Hopefully, that's all. Going up to 34 today, with no snow. Looks like Columbus got about 20 inches.
Today, I am taking it easy. Wife is making beef soup for supper. Good weather for it. I'll be in the train room, this afternoon, while watching the Nascar race from Atlanta.
Time for breakfast. Dining car is here.
Everyone have a nice day,
Chuck

Port Columbus officially measured us at 20.4 inches of snow. This is for a city that averages 28 inches of snow. :winter1::winter1::winter1::winter1::winter1::winter1: As Brutus stated the snow is great for growing our famous tomatoes and corn. (It also means that we don't need no stinky tomatoes from NC)

Tom lives in the snow belt Ohio where they get 60-110 inches per year, so 20 inches is nothing.

Kurt...for $899 you would think they would throw in the battery.

If you haven't watched the Buster Keaton video, it shouldn't be missed. I like the part where he was setting up the camera to take a photo of the mountains.
