If you are ever in our neck of the woods have a day out on the Morain Train.
It takes you on a 20km (12.2mile) ride between the historic towns of Uxbridge (1872) and Whitchurch-stouffille (1877).
Hear the Hum of the Rails again as the railways tourist train relives the past.
Hey here it is, the Uxbridge Station .
A lovely Witches hat station , Just what you always wanted to Model.
As you can tell by the snow it was just taken by a friend of mine who just happened to be going to Uxbridge.
Thought I`d move the thread back to the top with a couple of pics, sooooo if you have been out and about with YOUR camera recently can we see your picks of movement in Ontario??
This pic was taken by friends of mine who know I like train shots
taken in Sarnia 6069 at rest. Does any one haveany history on this fine machine??
Chris:
If I remember right, 6069 is a kitmingle job. They took 6060 and 6069 and produced 6060 as an operating loco and 6069 was what was left.
Blt MLW 11/1944, sent to Sarnia 5/1963.
Thanks David, for the info.
I know of one other steam engine at rest located in Guelph.
I will try and get a pick and info on that one, if my memory serves me well (that will be a first ) I think the two are related some how.
I will be out and about in the snow today hoping to catch some movement , how about you David ?
Chris:
Guelph has CN 6167, an old friend. Was the fan trip engine for years, then replaced by 6218, which is in Fort Erie.
Also check out 6213 at the CNE. All these are 4-8-4s.
Thanks again David,
A friend is bringing a pic or two on Sunday of 6167,
So will post it then.
These were fine old workers in there day.
David it sound like you are realy fond of these old Girls what association do you have with them????????? Please tell us more.
Mean while I did get out and about I took Barron up to the Cherry trestle bridge with my camera of course.
Walking along the track I heard a ruddy great wind a blowing , I thought must be along the valley
I was wrong .
Anybody seen one of these before?
This huge bridge was built about 5 years ago the reason being CN have a big camber change and the twist from one side too the other effects the rail going over the 401.
Chris:
6167 and 6218 were the fan trip engines of my younger days. I saw 6167 in the Stratford shops being overhauled before she started fan trip service. I also saw 6213 being moved into the CNE -- they used a tractor and sectional track. (2 or 3 sections).
I understand that Guelph wants to get rid of 6167 because she hasn't been maintained lately.
(I can't post any photos of them because most of my stuff is on slides.)
