My trip on CP Rail's Laggan Sub!

I just got back from the best trip I've ever had through the rockies, in the cab of an SD40-2! Here are some pictrues, I went from Calgary to Field, and back. The locomotive coming home was an AC4400 #9583. Thanks to both crews and CP Rail for an awsome ride!

This is the first train we met, a eastbound intermodal.

Almost 24000hp on this train! 5 SD40-2's, 1 AC4400 and an SD90!

Here is the SD40-2 that I rode in, CP 6017, you know this will be the next unit I paint on my layout!

Ahh yes, this is much better!

Here you can see the tail end of our train crossing over us on the lower spiral tunnel. Amazing!

A snow shed, or avalanche shed!

Here was my ride home, CP AC4400 #9583! I'd never been in one of these, hurry up Kato, I need this one on my layout now too!

It started snowing really hard, but I still managed to get this shot of a Red Barn! CP #9006.

And this is where we stalled. The UP SD90 had a traction motor short out before we made it out of the upper spiral tunel. They had to cut out the front truck, so it was down to 3000hp, the best speed we could manage up the hill was 2.5mph! It was a slow 2 hours, but just meant more time on the train!

This is after we got over that hill, it's all downhill to Calgary now! This is lake Wapta on the right.

Here is a shot of the UP SD90 with the bad traction motor. Look, it's not snowing anymore!
