Its great reading about other peoples layouts and see the stages from planning to building. But something that is sometimes taken for granted are the elements of mother nature. i'm very lucky for my basement keeps a constant temperature all year round and is not very dusty. Don't ask me how, because i don't know exactly. But the air outside is fairly dry and the temperature does vary from -40 C to 25 C throughout the year.

Heating and airconditioning can play a major role on how well your track does. Your layout will expand and contract due to the elements. The materials u use to build the layout are also affected.

So its good to keep in mind when your building your layout, what kind of conditions exist in the air.;)
