Howdee fans!

The moment I saw this abomination of a vehicle I immediately recognized it would be a great subject for paper modeling. At that time I never thought that it would land on my todo list some day...

However, that day came and now it is too late to stop. :D ;)

Reason for this new model: I managed to snag the magnificent Target Exclusive Trooper 6-pack from Hasbro, and the Patrol Trooper is one of the figures in this set. Since I have the TVC Assault tank and two First Order Desert Walkers (re-manned with OT Stormtroopers to protect the rear flank of the tank) I thought it would not be too bad to have the Patrol Trooper escorting the tank as well. Hasbro hasn't made a patrol speeder yet (and it is uncertain if they ever will), so I'm aware that this model is the one and only alternative for the time being.

As a first step I have DLed many pictures of the vehicle. I found several almost straight-on views of the little Revell speeders and worked from there. Despite the fact that they are aimed at a younger audience I noticed that the detail put into the models / toys is absolutey correct. The panelling, the greeblies, the wires - it's all there. Impressive!

And here are some WIP pics:

The Trooper set is still on its way to my place but I can tell you right now that the seat will have to be tweaked heavily and deviate from the original prop in order to allow the figure to sit on it properly. It is a 5-POA figure, meaning the legs can only swivel; it cannot do the splits, so the width of the seat is determined by the "crotch angle". A small consession, but as long as it works..! ;)

@ASC Mclaren : Yes I know, you would like to see Han's Speeder, too! ;) However, since there is a Hasbro offering in the required scale I won't be doing it. Nevertheless, I'm very fond of "project blue book". :D ;) I have the Revell one and I'm very happy with it. (The Hasbro one is just too big for me right now.)

That reminds me of that "Man from Nantucket" joke. I am not touching this one with a 10 foot Pole!

Seat, pedals, grips, some greeblies and big gun done. Everything will be refined on-the-fly. :)

Even though the mid section will be adapted heavily for the small pilot I'm keeping the proportions of the real prop at this stage. That allows me to make a 1/12 scale model for the Black Series Trooper which has ball-jointed hips and rocker ankles later-on. ;)
