I'm returning to model railroading after an absence of 25 years. I built the Atlas Gulf Summit & Susquehanna Valley layout with my son back in the early '80's, and now I have two grandsons who have a big interest in trains. A lot has come along since then including DCC and new rail sizes. I'm pouring through the magazines trying to catch up.
Can anyone tell me if the Atlas layout book has been updated and is the GS & SV layout do-able using code 55 rail without a lot of re-design? I'm mostly concerned about turnouts which come come in #5 & #7 in code 55, but which come in standard and #6 in code 80.
I've ordered the layout book and a primer on DCC, but thought I could get some advice here.
