Prototypical Plastic Ties

    I found this interesting article in Modern Plastics, a plastic trade magazine, that the Union Pacific is now using plastic ties. The plastic ties contain more than 50% recycled plastic, rubber and mineral fillers. The Union Pacific installed 10,000 of the plastic ties in 2001 and has purchased 200,000 more this year.

    So, the plastic track that many of us use is indeed prototypical.

    But... do they have wood grain molded in and a 3" hole in the center? :D :D :D

    OK LPB's, you heard 'im, get the wetherin' scraped off all those ties. :D :D :D
