Prodigy advance^2 or prodigy wireless?

Just curious if anyone has experience with these systems at all.

I like the Price of the advance^2 better, but I don't know if I could be tethered like that or not....I currently have a wireless direct current system that's 100% flaw free!

Is the prodigy wireless a reliable system? Will either work well with my decoder-equipped Atlas master engines?

Don't be too put off by the tether. You can put jacks around your layout, and unplug and plug in as required.

While the wireless is very nice, you pay for that convenience.

Either will work just fine with your Atlas locos.

Thanks Squidbait! Glad to hear the wireless does not lack in features! I'll sell off a few more of my largescale items on ebay to help justify it!

I'm a convicted ALCO-holic as well! Do you use sound on your models? If so any suggestions on sound systems that accurately portrait the Alco S-1s (thru 4s)? I'd love to have turbo and non-turbo ability.

Right now the only option appears to be ESU Loksound decoders. They have a 6-cyl turbo 539 which would be appropriate for S2's and S4's. They apparently used to have a non-turbo 539, but they don't show it on their site anymore.

That's too bad...I have a nice Proto Maine Central S3 just begging to rumble Alco sounds!

Oh well I've always wanted to have an S2. I really like the look of the blunt-style truck best.

In New Hampshire we actually have three of the four types working in scenic rail!
Hobo/Winnipesaukee RR (3 working S1s) (one working "S3" rebuilt with blunt trucks).
Conway Scenic (1 working S4 freshly rebuilt)

And ALL of them are of local heritage (Maine Central, Portland Terminal, Boston&Maine)

There are also several running in freight service for the Claremont and Concord RR. (3 working S4s) AND (the only working S2 in the state!)

Does anything reset when you plug and unplug the controller?

No, things just keep on doing what they were doing.
