CLEVER MODEL Mercantile brick building 1/48
I love the photo realist textures of these kits and being able to print as many copies we need, gives room to a lot of creativity.
As a system I glue the main parts to 2mm cardboard. This gives strength to the model.
In this one was a little tricky as I wanted to avoid to cut the facades by the corners, so I tried to calculate the thickness of the card and work with two sub assemblies for the outer walls. A little unpractical to have the walls dangling, but after joining the four walls it compensates the mess.
As usual, I mess with the window frames, always cutting too thick or too thin. That is my weak point that ruins my models in a very obvious way.
I heightened the building so I could install later on a platform at the level of the cars. I intend to use this model in a micro layout.
I remade the entire terrace using extra printings and thin card.
To disguise two joints I installed an electric wire connection encased in lead (hope this was in practice in the USA in early XXth century).
After gluing in place the window above the main door, clumsy manipulation ruined it. So I designed a OLSEN COFFEE sign that I placed near the window blocking the view to the bad part of the window.
