The photo of the caboose derailment posted on the Gauge made me think maybe sombody with a long memory, who worked for the N&W in the mid to late 60's might be out there and a member of this forum.
It was in the summer, I think probably 1967, but it could have been a year or two earlier... A westbound line of empties,heading out to Bluefield.An Eastbound full consist of coal heading into Roanoke... bad(or???) signal,lead engine of East bound into the River, Engineer of outbound train saves crew..does this ring a bell to anyone?
