Note: I'm Purposely putting "News" in the titles of these posts to MAKE them easy to find 
If you are using the New Post list, you might want to customize it so you will only see the new posts for the forums that you are interested in.
Go to User CP -- Top left of any page
Look down the list at left and find: Edit Options click that and on the next page:
Scroll down to bottom and you will see "Exclude Forums from "Get New Posts"
Use your Ctrl key to select multiple forums to exclude and
Scroll down when you are finished and save it
