After reading Malcolm Furlow's feature in the latest Narrow Gauge & SL Gazette, I'm thinking about bashing some old HO steamers into On30 locos. If I try this, I'll start with an old Model Power 0-4-0, so if I screw it up, it won't be any great loss. I'm thinking that I could probablly leave the chasis & boiler alone, adding a new cab, domes, stacks, running boards, & other details, & convert it into some type of small tank engine, along the lines of a Porter.
If that works out, I may go to work on a Mogul!
Anybody ever try anything like this? Does it sound do-able?
I'm still working on my N scale layout, but thought this might be an interesting little "side-track" to explore!

I know what you mean Catt, I tend to juggle too many things at once too.
I don't want to jump off any cliffs right now, because I'm committed to my N scale layout. But my future plans for an HO layout may have changed to On30. I've been doing some measuring, & I think I can do it in the same space, with a little compression.
