Hi all. I'm new to the model train thing (my son is the zealot) and new to the board. My son received an early 1940's Lionel 1666 Steam Engine for Christmas from his grandfather. After reading instructions here and elsewhere, I tore the engine apart, cleaned it completely, greased the gears and oiled the wheels. The engine is in fine working order now.
The tender rolls along just fine, however his grandfather recalls that it should whistle. After tearing it down to clean it, I found that one of the two wire leads in the tender is not attached. I see no I broken solder anywhere that makes it look like a connection was broken. I took this picture hoping that one of you would be able to help determine what this lead should be attached to. If you click on the smaller thumnail it launches a larger image. I hope to have a higher quality resolution image when my wife gets home with her camera.
Any help or clues would be much appreciated.
