soldering wire connections is allways best then heatshrink or electrical tape the connection! .015 dia.solder is fine

You are right Radar. Soldering those splices are a good idea. Even with the so called solderless connectors. I still solder them. I have baught $200 ham radio antennas for the car. Alot of them use the crimp on connector. I always cut them off and solder one on!

Hey Cid:
Do you know what that splice is called that you have pictured? It's called a Western Union splice. The reason for the name is. When Western Union was putting put telegraph poles. They spliced the wire together like that. Hence the name!

One final note about splicing. Copper corrades. Corration creates resistance. I still solder those splices to prevent this. Plus it makes an even tighter connection!:thumb:
