Sure.. Use XtrkCad.... It is now even open source. has a learning curve, but is really nice fo rthe price. Atlas has a product that sis free s well, but I could never get it to run on my XP PC.

I've done all of my layouts on Atlas's RTS program. You can print it iut on a 1:1 scale, but unless you have track on every square foot of your layout be prepared to print a lot of blank pages or ones that only have a grid line on them. :D :D :D

Yeah, for a 4' x 8' layout, you can expect to print out about 60 sheets of letter-sized paper. I was thinking about doing that on my N scale expansion, but even then it was going to be about 24 sheets, so I just printed it out on one sheet and freehanded it with a ruler and a sharpie pen.

BTW, I have both the Atlas RTS and the XtraCad programs, but use Turbocad since I have a lot more experience with it and just don't feel like learning a new program right now. Thinking gives me a headache.:oops::(:D
