hamr How do I go about making a background for my layout I dont want to paint right on the walls and have started using poster board and collared pencils not terrable but not vrey realistic looking, any sugestions on how you can do this? I have to incorprate my river into it ? The tracks run right up to the wall so it has to be very thin and it will be a prarie scene

I have not started my background yet but I did the first step last year.
I took a watercolor painting class at my local high school and the teacher showed me all the little details that make a background believable.
Also I watched some PBS shows on landscape painting (not the guy who needs desperately a hair cut) and it gave me some good pointers, too.

You HAVE to be talking about Bob Ross sign1

When I was in high school, we used to sit in art class and make fun of this guy all the time. He was always talking about his "happy trees" and just being goofy. One day, our art teacher had enough. She brought in a TV, and we had to paint along with him. My trees turned out to be not so happy.
