how much power?

on a couple of turnouts i have put LED`s between the rails to show the route chosen.
i have wired them from the live frog and the track power.
i do intend to do some more which should not be a problem but i was wondering how many it would take to affect performance.
has anyone done this?

I've done it w/ some tracks for my kids w/ 2 color led's w/ resistors on both legs. When they change polarity the leds change color, when they turn up the juice the leds get brighter. It makes it easier for them to get some feedback as to what is going on. I also have it setup so it tells them what polarity the main track and the reversing loops are in. I have 2 isolated loops on a 4x8, i haven't had an issue w/ power yet but i'm only running one engine per cab.
