As far as the hidden yard goes, I'm trying to capture something of the real FEC's yard near the Ft. Lauderdale airport which does king of curve around under Interstate I-595. It also has a small intermodal yard and some industries similar to what I hope include nearby. I left two of the yard tracks as stubs to (1) save on switches and (2) save space as its already somewhat crowded with relatively small radii.
While I'm planning your the yard tracks to go under the backdrop on the otherside of the highway overpass, I'm not sure yet if the tracks in the gap between the overpass and backdrop will be visible from above yet. Probably doesn't matter.
