Corn fields

Here a good question:

Since I am modeling the Rock Island, a midwestern US railroad. How do I simulate the corn fields of the midwest? Any ideas?

ASTROTURF!

Get an astroturf doormat. Cut a piece to the desired shape and thin out the "corn" into rows. Apply to layout deck.

Now what about fall corn? Also what about those corn bails you see in the fall that are used as decorations?
