Converting a powered unit to a dummy

I have an Atlas RS3 that was damaged beyond repair. The loco hit the floor demolishing the engine mounts etc. My LHS extimated the repair at over $50, which is too high for me, considering I have a number of RS3s. I can restore the appearance and after removing the motor, find that the chassis tracks okay. What othe parts should I remove?

If you haven't already removed them, remove the worm gears.

If you can easily disassemble the trucks, remove the internal gears too - they'll create some additional drag if left in place. Leave the gears on the axles in place.
