Clearance Question

On average, how much clearance do you allow between HO tracks on an overpass? For instance, I want to have a track pass over another track that will be entering a tunnel just before they cross. Is 3 1/2 inches enough? I'm modeling a logging layout thay will be loosely based on the 1900 - 1920's era.

The NMRA standard is 3" so you should be good to go at 3 1/2".

Remember that the 3" is from the top of the rail to the bottom of whatever is above. If it's a track, you have to allow for roadbed or bridge structure.
