MORE progress: The third of the four Engine Pod Modules. This went quickly, and I'm VERY satisfied with the turnout. Next up: final engine module and then one more Cryo-Lab/Habitations
Thank you all for the kind words. I've now finished the final Engine Pod Module (thank goodness). It went just about the same as the others: mostly easy, thrusters a pain in the A$$, and overall I'm happy with the turnout. One more module to go: the final Cryo-Lab/Habitations Module. I should have that finished early tomorrow, so expect build pics then .
AAAAAAAAAND… I've FINALLY FINISHED! I just finished the last of the 12 modules: the 4th Cryo-Lab/Habitations/Command/Connector Module. It was a quick and easy build, if a little bit boring. Now I just have to cross my fingers that it'll all fit together when the time comes.
And now, the moment you've all been waiting for: pictures of ALL the modules together. I've measured out approximately the right diameter, so the size shouldn't change TOO much once I build all of the ring connector bits. The triangle in the middle measures six inches by 8-ish centimeters, so you can use that for scale. I'm VERY pleased with how this is turning out and with the quality of UHU's design. I'll post more later today/ next year once I make some progress on the connector pieces. Thank you all very much for paying attention to my thread
More progress: All 12 of the ring connector piece bases are done. Now for the REALLY boring and fiddly but: building the sphere-shaped airlocks to go on to them.
Damn, I just realised Foxit PDF printed some of the parts wrongly. Texture mistakes are all over the place and I am too anal about it to continue. Scrapping my work and starting from scratch. Argh.
Firstly, I'd like to wish you all a Happy New Year. May it be full of papermodelling success! Secondly, I've finished the first of the 12 ring connector tunnels. I'm doing these 1 at a time, because I can't stand repeatedly building the same parts again and again with no breaks in between. My goal is to do 1 or 2 per day, so I'm HOPING I can be done by the middle of next week. These will probably end up being the second hardest part of the model, after the Central Docking Hub.
More new progress: second ring connector tunnel piece finished. This one went a little bit faster than the previous one, which I'm hoping will be a recurring trend . I'm holding off on the one between the Engine and the Landing pod, because it has a docking port on it, which I need my magnets for. I've ordered some, which should be here by Monday.
Last progress update for the day: Third Ring Connector Tunnel completed and installed. The model is starting to take shape, and I'm quite proud of how it's turning out. It seems sturdy enough so far, so my fingers are crossed that doesn't change.
Slooooowly pressing forward. I've got one connector done and another partially assembled, but still drying, so I'll post pictures of that in a little while. For now, here is what I've completed since yesterday:
