Atlas turntable drive

I just installed my atlas turntable drive. What a Racket! This is the older drive that has all gears and I'm guessing thats where all the noise comes from. Now I know atlas redesigned the drive unit does anyone know if its quieter?

From what I understand Atlas went to a belt drive on the newer drives.
I replaced the gears on one of mine with a belt and pullies from a VCR.

Looks like a great setup but I think the wife wouldn't appriciate me pulling parts out of our VCR to fix mine. I think I'll be going to get the new drve, In fact when My better half hears this current one fire up she'll probably buy it herself!

Vcrs have gotten so cheap that no one fixes them anymore. You might find a used one for free to haul it off if you look around.

The new TT drive is a belt drive and much quieter than the old gear drive.
