    DCC and The NW2

Cool, is that the TCS M1 decoder? I'll probably wait til Digitrax releases the drop-in for it before I DCCify mine. :D

    Christmas Day Check-IN

Ah, let's see if I can remember it all... C&O color pictorial v2 and a misc other bling from railohio C&O Ry. in WV photos 1940-1960 and a book on ops plus misc other from kitsune Mom gave me a nice Columbia zip-up fleece and a $50 GC to the Little Choo Choo Shop. :) Dad gave me some cash One...

    Show me your switch stands!

Silly Schmidty... I'd show ya what I've got, but uhh... it's the wire spring from a Circuitron Tortoise poking through the throw rod. :) Now what I want in a switch stand is something to replace the machine... ie, move a lever on the switch stand to actuate the turnout.

    Show me your switch stands!

Trying to decide on a switch stand. I'd like to see pics of them installed in your layouts. What I'm looking for is something very realistic and operating in HO. I'm willing to do significant work for something "right". So post a pic of your switch stands, and tell me about 'em. :)

    Starting my NTrak modules

I never thought about using threaded PVC as legs on a module... nice idea! I may copy that in the future...

    Hello again!

Recently found this forum for the second time. Had joined up here about 3 years ago, but then forgot about the place (busy with education and all that), but I have returned! How is everyone? :)

So I have gotten my start with DCC, and fried my first decoder.

Interesting... I'll have to see if the local hobby shop has any Lenz decoders. They had Atlas, MRC, and LOTS of Digitrax decs, I didn't notice anything Lenz tho. That doesn't mean it's not there.

So I have gotten my start with DCC, and fried my first decoder.

Of course. But it sure is a handy dandy feature to have, especially with DCC to help indicate which direction the loco is going to go. ;)

So I have gotten my start with DCC, and fried my first decoder.

But would the automatic directional headlight still work the same? Sure I could use another function for it, but I'm afraid I'd end up having to manually turn the lights on and off.

So I have gotten my start with DCC, and fried my first decoder.

At the Winston-Salem GATS last Sunday, a buddy of mine picked up an AtlasMaster DCC Commander and Generator set for $20 after I told him I'd let him have first stab at it... if he didn't buy it I would have bought it anyway. But he jumped at the chance, since he doesn't have much "train money"...

Best lights to use for HO diesel engines

What about incandescent lights? I tried using 1.5V micro sized lights with a 200 ohm resistor, but the resistor very quickly gets rather hot. Any larger value of a resistor, and the lights dim too much, any smaller and I'd likely cook them. Would I be better off to just go ahead and pick up...

have you ever had to leave NEGITIVE feedback on ebay?

Never left a negative feedback, but as a buyer I did leave neutral once when the item I bought wasn't "new" as listed, but just thrown into a cardboard box covered in grease and dust (could have been unused, but OLD), and needed additional parts (supplied by the seller after explaining the...

Train shows, same old stuff or ?

    1. How many shows do you attend over a 1 year period? About 2-3. 2. Is a stand alone buy-sell-trade show better or worse that a show that is tied to a convention or club? I've had equally good and bad experiences here. 3. Let's say you're an East Coast modeler attending...

You make time for trains, but ...

    1. Watch college football? Nope, don't like footbawl. 2. Do stuff around the house you have been putting off for awhile? Sometimes. 3. Get out early and play golf? Don't play golf. 4. Fear that you'll be victimized by the wife (or ex-wife) with a honey do list (or...

Will the real price please stand up?

    1. Do you pay the shop's price knowing that you can buy one on Ebay for the $70-$80 range tops? My LHS charges far less than retail... but if it's too big of a spread from LHS price to online price, I will buy online. 2. Do you buy from the shop to show your support? Not...

    MORE N Scale Steam

News of these, especially the 2-6-6-2 Mallets REALLY made my day... heck, it made my whole year! I knew that emailing Bachmann might prod them on into plans of production. ;) I'm already planning the budget to afford TWO of the Mallets in C&O, as well as one of the ten wheelers. I think...

Which of these represents your local train shop/dealer?

Lots of guys in green aprons is what my LHS is. Great place too! I buy very little online (and even tolerate special orders thru the hobby shop) simply because their prices are fair, service is good, and they have a tremendous amount of stuff in stock... so it's only the oddball stuff like...

    NEW Atlas N scale Steam!

Excellent... not that I have use for such an "old-timey" engine, but it's good to see more steam in N scale! :) Heck, maybe I could bash it into a newer style locomotive.
