This will be my first build thread on this forum and I've decided to continue on a build I started over a year ago and have had on the backburner as it is quite an intimidating build for me, but also why I started it initially. To me this build encapsulates the insanity of uhu02 to have such a detailed build down to labeling nearly every single component in the lunar lander. The following pictures are where I had stopped and will be starting back up at:

Yesterday I worked on the outer ring of the second half of the cockpit, the final modules for that ring, and the optical telescope that will go into it.

I got the ring assembled and got it to fit onto the other half of the module. It required a little bit of trimming to get it to fit snuggly and for the gaps to line up properly.

This was work I did yesterday and documented but was having trouble posting and I'll most likely post another update if I get more done tonight.

You are off to a great start on a VERY COMPLICATED project! I have to tip my hat to you for tackling such a project! I am very impressed with the work and progress that you have made on this project thus far. Everything looks really good!
I am looking forward to seeing just how this project works out.

Wow that is looking awesome. You are working on a complex model and it is looking great.

Holy cow, this looks awesome! Take your time and follow the instructions carefully. :)

This is on my list 'to do' I must say this puts most plastic models of the Lunar Landers to shame...

Great work, and keep up the good work

I like the LEM UHU attempted, but not having round struts on that model really takes too much away from the rest of the model, which is pretty darn good. :)

Wonderful work so far! I would look at adding aluminum and gold foils to the exterior to make sections 'Pop"

I've been continuing work the past couple of days, finished up some exterior parts on the upper portion of the lander. I've included some pictures to show my general process on builds. Before I cut parts out I score them with a dulled blade, then I'll cut them out, and then color the edges of the pieces with a set of markers.

If I followed Uhu's instruction I would work on two satellites and then the structural frame on the upper portion of the lander, instead I'm going to work on the descent stage and finish the build off with the frame. Sometime my parts don't fit quite right and require some trimming and finagling so if I have that issue with the descent stage I don't want the frame in the way and potentially damage it in the process. There is also lots of cutting that is delicate and time consuming so I can work on that in-between while glue is drying.

Next I prepped as many of the pieces that were two paper layers thick so that they would be done when I needed them. For these types of pieces I'll cut out one or two small sections before folding to act as guides to ensure they are lined up correctly, I don't have blind faith in just folding along the line. After that I use a thin layer of glue and place them in-between hardcover textbooks, I unusually leave them for at least a day just to ensure they dry flat.

I also cut out one of the first pieces of the structural frame and finished the first step of the descent stage and started cutting out some struts.

Thank you for all the kind words regarding my build thus far!

You are off to an amazing starts. This is one of my favorite UHU models. I definitely want to give this a go one day.

This model requires patience, and it pays off in the end. I would recommend getting some kind of stiffener for any parts that should be tubular, in the very least spray them with a flat finish, to keep the moisture out, as they will warp. Looking at what you've done so far, it seems this is going to be an awesome model.

I'd start looking for a clear plastic case to store it in. Dust will stick to that like metal file shavings to a magnet.
