New to the hobby

Hello all,

Although I have had trains for all of my 36 years I am just now getting serious about it. I guess it is because my 4.5 year old little girl loves trains and the local train shop. We have a lot of fun together. In fact she did a good amount of work with our under Xmas-tree village.

I planed on starting some modeling after the holidays and I had a question. I have a nice collection of tools, but nothing geared to modeling. Is there a standard list I can reference or suggestions that might help me?

Hi and welcome to the hobby.

What you need depends on what you are doing. Small screwdriver set, Xacto knife set (not the woodcarving blades), needle-nose pliers, files.
Paint brushes, little glue applicators, tweezers -- the kind that hold closed.
Then small drill set + pin vise, soldering iron, small size taps (2-56, 00-90) for mounting trucks or couplers.
A motor tool. And now we're getting advanced.
For fun stuff, look up Micro Mart and NorthWest Shortlines.
I trust these are for you and not your little girl.
