69 Nova SS Yenko

One of my friends had a '72 Rally Nova ( same body as the '69. His was medium green). Rally paint scheme, three speed floor shift, Rally wheels, and fffftt...an in-line, 250 cubic inch six. Oh, well, it looked fast.
 
Please don't knock the 250s. I had a 67 with a 250 and a 2 speed power-glide. Not very fast, but plenty of tork.
Even though the car was only about 8 inches off the ground, I drove rings around stuck 4wd trucks, in the mud.
 
You're right, that Chevy 250 was one of the most durable in-line sixes ever made, and the long production run they had is a testimonial to that.
 
My '69 Chevy Panel Van, extended body, had a 250, 3 speeds on the column, that was one easy van to drive!! Simplest motor to work on too. That would make for a nice model. :)
 
I worked for a local ServiceMaster franchise for 20 years. When I started working there in '83, the boss had two '76 Chevy panel vans, each with the "3-on-the-tree" and 250 cubic inch six. Sometimes the shift linkage would bind, and we'd have to get out, open the hood, reach in and pull it loose. Those old vans served us well.
 
My older brother bought a brand new 78 Nova RS and it came with that same 250 CI inline 6 and "3 on the tree". I learned to drive a manual in that car, 81/82. my dad was still driving i when he did in 86.
