Sr-71B 1:45 build thread

I hope I did not over do it!!!!!!! The skeloton part is SO FUN!!!!! But yeah this is where we at so far. It the whole model is 35 inches long so It won't be too dense I think. I do not worry about compexity because I have no time limit or deadline for it. I made the cockpit bucket, and trycycle landing gear doors,
AS ALWAYS!!!! ANY tips are appreciated anything I should know before drawing out skin? is there a problem with the skeleton? please tell me!

I did that in Adobe CS3, and also in Rhino 3D. What that picture represents is parts of panels which are the same. When they differentiate, I either split the panel where it differs, or start a new panel. This makes for a model that does not look like it's made of chopped segments. The pic I posted is the "turtle deck" of the Cessna, going from back to from the back of the cabin to the front, 1/2 of the rear cabin. Great looking frame! :)

I knew a guy in Texas that built his own model rocket motors, up to J size. Biggest I ever flew was an E 18-3, 19ish newtons for 18 seconds. by comparison an Estes E will only burn for 3 seconds. my friend used an optical tracker, and it had a calculated apogee of 4000 ft. but the Shute failed, and destroyed the rocket on landing.

When I was a kid, I built the Saturn V ESTES, and all stages lit. I lost most of the model over Long Island Sound. :)

Biggest rocket I ever built and flew was a 2 stage, and it became a surface to air rocket.. The public RC field was across the road from the rocketry field, I called area clear, double checked my flight path, did my count down, hit the igniter, rocket went woosh, right thru an RC plane, that had come over the rocket field... I thought I was in so much trouble, we gathered the pieces of the plane, and started walking toward the RC field, and the pilot met us halfway. Turns out he apologized to us, he flew over to "buzz the kids".

Much better looking canopy. :)

So I built a 1:48 scale version of the main fuselage as a test build it is VERY rough, but It brought to life some mistake's Really ther eis two main mistakes:
  • I did not add tabs (THIS MAKES IT SO HARDDDDDD)
  • And one of the front panels was accidentally re-scaled in inkscape which made it IMPOSSIBLE to fit.
So next time Ill take more care. & I will spend more time on the skeleton to make it more crisp.

(Btw, I did not do the entire bottom, engines, and tail fins as they are simple and I kinda KNOW they will work.)
