Hi all,
I had the good fortune of being able to drop by the UK for the weekend on my way back to Canada. I was lucky enough to spend half an hour (you could say unlucky because I wanted to spend the whole day) at the Dean Forest Railway. If you don't know much about this railway, drop me an email, it's a modellers dream prototype, including the claimed acolade of being the only railroad to have had narrow, standard and broad gauges at the same time. Anyhow, thought I'd share a couple of photos, including one of me (a rare circumstance). There were two engines being restored in the engine shed by various volunteers. You can also book a day with these guys to receive training as a fireman and get to 'drive the train' (for a fee). All in all, this prototype is destined to be my 2nd layout (still working on my first layout based on the OAPS in Ontario).
Gareth.
