 Will this work? I found two spools of 14 gauge stranded wire on the side of the road a couple of years ago and it has been hanging in the garage ever since. I am at the point on our layout to run wire and was wondering if the 14 gauge would work for the main power wires and just run 20 gauge wire from the track to the 14 gauge power wire?

    Hi Tony,
Welcome to our community of free spirits, assorted nuts and curmudgeons!!!

You will hear folks using everything from #20 to #12 wire. That FREE :thumb: 14 gauge
sounds OK to me for a power bus. :D :D

14 gauge stranded will work quite nicely for your bus wires, 20, or 22 gauge for the feeders, from the bus to the rails.

Like everyone else, I agree that the 14 gauge wire will work great for the bus line and 20-22 as feeders. :thumb: :thumb:
