Used to live in pittsburgh had a very good friend who was sec. Tres. Of the museum in altoona by the name of gary helped to figure out how to get the old train off the curve....

Yes, it is a great place. The Cornell Chapter NRHS had a trip down there just last weekend and we had a wonderful time. Stopped at Tyrone on the way and caught Amtrak boarding. Spent some time at the Museum and visited a number of places in the area where we could take pix. Of course, spent a lot of time at the Curve and saw several trains in both directions, including a couple of UPHILL light engine moves.

this past monday was only the second time i have been to the altoona area. i was pretty impressed. saw 18 trains that day. im hoping to get back there again this year sometime in october .
