I am just about finished with the lightning, you can follow my build at the games and gaming accessories section of this forum. This is a white download and is found in the mecha section instead of the Warhammer section. It was a toss up as to where I wanted to place this build since both sections seem to cross over, like I am doing now. Enjoy the pics.

I believe that I will continue the rest of the build in the Sci-Fi side of the house.:wave::wave::wave:

Landing Pad

There are a few details left for the Lightning, but in the meantime I will build a landing pad for the Flyer.

The materials will be done on foam board and the details will be done in cardstock.

There will be two access points to the deck. This deck can also double as a platform for the heavy artillery, The Basilic to be exact.

Landing Pad for Flyers

The pad is octagonal but my sides are not quite equal, Keep that in mind when you decide to make your own pad. This is why I numbered the parts on the deck so they can placed in the right spot. There are a lot of small detail to do as well as icons or badges. This pad can be used as the heavy equipment deploy device like in the Dawn Of War game as well.

Platform Construction

Here I continue with the Landing Pad.

Pic #1 has a series of triangles for the center of the pad. This is not a perfect octagon, so I numbered the parts for the correct placement.

Pic #2 has the first version of the ramp. It is cut into sections. i punched out some roundels for the landing lights.

Pic #3 I added some edging strips

Pic #4 Here is the version 2 of the ramp with the sides attached and folding the sides in. Landing lights are attached to the version #1 ramp.

Pics 5 and six are some details which will be shown later on in this build.

Dude, you need to seriously consider buying a string of LEDs to put landing lights in that thing! They do make little strings you can buy at hardware stores that are run on a battery. Simple matter to cut holes and glue the lights inside, no messy soldering or resistor coding.

That is an option that I have considered, But I am going to finish it first without the lights and see how it comes out. I have added a lot of more details but I am in the process of writing the build for it. I am rather pleased as to how it is coming out.

Radio shack is on my list for the LEDs.

I wouldn't go to the 'Shack for white LEDs, as they tend to waaaaaaaaaaay overprice them at $5 apiece. You're better off getting a string of Christmas tree lights or better yet buying them off an internet vendor, like www.digikey.com , www.theLEDLight.com , www.superbrightleds.com , www.etgtech.com , www.goldmine-elec.com/default.htm , and www.allelectronics.com

Those are quality vendors, most modelers trust them for all their electronics needs. Myself, I prefer to scavenge for stuff to tear out of old appliances and toys rather than buy new. :eek:ops:

The Platform

Continuing the build and constructing the small details. Punched out some roundels for the running lights on the deck. They will be painted later. Sprayed the platform with a grey primer and prepping for later paint and weathering.:wave::wave::wave:

nearing the end of the Deck

Here the deck is almost finished. Constructed the out-riggers and placed emblems on the side panels. I am seriously thinking of a diorama for this piece with some of my Imperial troopers and armor.:wave::wave::wave:

The End

This is the end of this build, unless I decide to do do a diorama.

Go for it guy, That is why I do it, so others can benefit from it. You are welcome to modify the build. I have yet to use the Lights option but it lends itself to be converted to a lights platform.
