Was that 44 tonner in Carson City? The last time I saw it it was pulling the excursion train out of Virginia City. Does that mean that they got the steamer back in service in Virginia City? While in Sacramento did you take in the California State Railroad Museum? They have a cab forward on display there.
Granite Rock #10 is at CSRM. That's the CP (central pacfic) freight depot there in the backround.

hi russ and miles---being a canadian tourist,i guess i got my locations confused---the picture of the 44 toner was indeed virginia city,however we did visit carson city as well and took in a fine museum there---there were some steam engines at that location.i did see the cab forward at the sacramento state museum but would have needed a wide-angled lense to photograph that beauty---thanks for your response,once again sorry for the over-sight

That cab forward at the Ca. State Railroad Museum sure makes a big contrast to the C.P. Huntington parked accross the isle from it!
