Don't forget the roots!
In fact, there are quite a lot of weeds and grasses out there whose root 'armature' is just fine for trees. Since the German name wouldn't help much here (and I don't know all of them either) I won't give any species names.
Just tear out some weeds along the road (tough ones are superior to soft and sapful ones) und look at the roots. Since they grow out in the wilderness you don't have to tear up the flowerbeds in your garden!
