tow boat / tug boat in n scale

1. Which one pushes coal barges? tug boat or a tow boat?

2. How do I build one in N scale? Anyone make one before? I need it to be lighted, too.

I believe that is a tow boat. I found a thread I liked by jmarksberry that discussed his construction of a tow boat and includes N scale drawings. It may be a good place to start as you research the size of these boats and their characterisitics. Sounds like a great project!

I made one in HO scale out of wood blocks, carboard, and a small plastic box for the pilot house.
