Dam sweet dam
Thanks Doc , Nice layout you have started there.
You may find this amuseing.
I hear you (barely) and what was your name wall1wall1wall1wall1 Oh yes Clark!
Ha ha, that’s awesome! What’s the current price on unobtainium now-a-days? I know gold’s floating around 800USD/oz and iron is at 50USD/ton.
I may have switch commodities.
Indeed! Unobtainium is currently going for the same price as about 12 barrels of oil. (government use only , of coarse ).
Word on the grapevine is that the major use of Unobtainium is in the processing of Gottahavitite. It must be for use in some kind of weapon if the goverment is involved.
No it is just used to generate a slush fund that can be skimmed off of by the higher ups :curse: . It has no practicle use , but is being experimented with in use of anti-gravitational craft.
Wow Mike, layout looks awesome! I have always just passed up this thread for some reasson after seeing the first page. VERY glad I stopped in and saw the rest. What did you do to weather the mine structure? It is AMAZING! And also, I love how well the backdrop and the layout blend together. But the scenery in general is some of the best Ive seen.
That is some first class model railroading.:thumb::thumb::thumb::thumb:
New Structure for the ACTRR
Thanks Kevin glad you stopped in and thanks for the kind words.
Here is what can be done to the ,ever popular and usually free, Bachmann coaling tower. I moved the staircase , added bracing to base, made handrails (won't do that again), modified coal chute, added cables and rings and weights, and builders in scale tin roofing. A considerable amount of work to make a structure the ACTRR will soon schedule for destruction due to dieselization.
Beautiful work. I've got two of those to get done. One is half finished in HO scale and the other, I have not even started yet in N scale.
Why would the ACTRR get rid of it? couldnt they put a fuel tank in the top and run hoses down through the chute? It would be the ultimate in gravity-fed loading.
Thanks Guys , Kevin and Trainnut those are both real nice layouts there you guys have.
What's the green engine behind the steamer?
EDIT: Never mind. I thought it was an RSD, but now it just looks like an SD7/9/24.
Mike as usual looks great.
Thanks Guys , Triplex it is an RS11 Alco Demonstrator.
Thanks , Mike
PS The ACT is not buying any, yard boss thought they were butt ugly.
Here is some progress on the ACT. These are of the finished Cattle Pen and the coaling tower in place as well as the two caboose tracks and yard turnouts ballasted.
You've done such a great job blending your scenery into your backdrop... very, very nice work! Your photography is also admirable.
Here is my new project. This is a JL Innovations Brookside Ice House kit with a scratch built curved ice dock to fit the lead-in to the yard. I'll post more pics later on .
I am sure that this project will be as good if not better than your others.
It is already looking good, I applaud you.
Thanks , I am gonna try to get some more work done this after noon an re-test fit it on the layout.
