    Airplane card model designers!

Here´s a rather odd looking airplane design from the late 70s and early 80s - the 'Tacit Blue', or, as it was also nick-named "The Whale".
Experience drawn from this project actually paved the way for the Northrop-Grumman B-2 'Spirit' heavy stealth bomber. One plane of it´s kind was ever built and the secret maiden flight took place in 1982. Three years later, in 1985, it was withdrawn and retired after 135 successful (but somewhat unstable) flights, at a total cost of $165 million. In 1996, more that twenty years later, it was officially unveiled and officially announced:

It might make a very nice and quite unique card model - here are some interesting facts & pictures from every angle for reference:

    'Tacit Blue' Model

    Yes, Chris,

There are a few things that is good to know when designing a model - re-coloring is one of them. Rob Carleen (rob46) has some good tips on workable methods in his "Recoloring Card Models" tutorial.
While we´re waiting for some creative mind to pick up the gauntlet and design a 'Tacit Blue' card model, we could always try a plastic one . . . oops, sorry, I guess I cursed in church there . . .
This is the 1:72 scale kit at Moduni.de in Germany: http://www.moduni.de/product_info.php/products_id/2681111/language/en
I guess it could always be used to 'model' a card model . . .

    Best to all,

Tacit Blue - A 'Flying Brick'?

    Right, Doug,

The space shuttle has been called a 'flying brick' - especially when landing.
But this one really deserves that name, being much more 'boxed' . . .

I have tears rolling down my cheeks!

So, ummm, anybody got a good 3 view of this beastie? Not much info on the net.

I'm throwing together a series of oddball planes to submit to Chip, and the whale has been on the list, just lacking good 3 views,

    Tacit Blue - "The Whale"

    Hi murphyaa,

I looked around for that, too, but so far I haven´t been able to find anything really good enough to build on. You´ll have to go on the many photos that exist. Try a Google picture search. There might be something useful in the Czech resin kit, though: http://www.fantastic-plastic.com/NorthropTacitBluePage.htm

PS (edited in): This might be a siutable model for Fiddlersgreen, with the interesting history connected to it. It really is an "odd ball".

Interesting choice the "Tacit Blue" , what I would like to have as a paper model is the Mig-37 Ferret.
