Straightening a bent loco platform

I just bought two Proto 2000 GP7s with DCC and sound on board. VERY NICE locos. However, when they were packed in China, they were placed very tight into the styro form with false coupler shanks to hold the locos solid. Unfortunately, they were so tight that the rear platforms are now slightly bent! thus the platform steps are out of wack and so is the KD coupler horn. How can I straighten these platforms without damaging them? Heat gun? Suggestions.

If they are new in the box, don't even try to straighten them. Walthers warranties their products, contact them with a description of the problem and have the locomotives replaced.
