Hi, I've always been a fan of aircraft paper models, but recently I've took interest in building ships. However, I'm not sure of how to start out. Perhaps some of you could give me advice and point out some free paper models of ships to try out? I'm quite eager to try out DN's V-108, but I'm not used to building parts without tabs. I hope someone will guide me on this.

Perhaps you should check out the paper shipwrights site they have some simple monitor boats that will ease you in gently then you can have a crack at the V108

You can always add your own tabs to the parts when you cut them out.

You may also want to check out the following links for other free ships:

If you like your stint in ships and want to move to commercial kits, the JSC line is generally pretty good as a starting point. They are fairly nice and modestly priced. However, their instructional diagrams are a bit lacking and you will need to figure out how some things fit togehter on your own.
