So and next parts. Seem all to be the same but you have to take care how to glue together. As can be seen on picture 3 the side parts are different.

Sorry for not bringing news on this project, but.....
I had the opportunity to get this plastic model at a very favourable price.
.....and I had to assamble this one. It is a big model with some additional internal details, like the four torpedos. It has a weathering, but it is not complete, so I had to do some additional weathering.
The other one on the picture I got years ago for a very special price. It is not a good and detailed model, but it is BIG. No spreading of the wings, nothing, but I think it will be good if it is placed on the side wall.

Now back to the actual project: Next parts. not a big problem although the L-parts are really small.
Now it looks as it might come to an end very soon.

and now the rest of the wings. I used a plastic model as reference for the placement and the direction of those parts.

Nice to see paper model next to plastic model for comparison. Seems that paper model is quite true to the plastic model.

I agree, though paper can put in some detail that is too fine to realize in injection molds. I was a mold maker for many years. Molds for injection plastic cost millions of dollars to make for complicated models, even with the automated machinery, there is a human element of finishing that can only be done by hand, and there aren't as many mold makers around as there used to be. Monogram lost their molds to a fire at their factory, not from the fire, but from the saltwater used to put it out. I purchased all the Monogram 1/8th Jaguar XKE models in my local area for an average of $40 dollars a piece. Last year, after many years, I sold the 2nd to the last one for $350 dollars to a friend of mine, who begged me for many years for it. Heg Heh Heh, what are friends for? I wish I had done the same with the Jo-Han models, they are worth a fortune, with their worn out molds, flashing and all. Ever see a Jo-Han, buy it (if it's cheap), even if you don't car for the particular car itself, it is still worth much. :)

I ment proportion wise. I suppose new plastic star wars models are very close to the original filming prop, so this paper model is also close to the original:). I realy love detaily crafted paper modes for this fine details you are talking about:)

In this case the plastic model has more details (e.g. droid plate, cockpit). But I think this is a very good model to start with putting extra details on it.
I also have the feeling that the paper model is very close to the plastic model shown. It is the model of Revell - which was shown in the picture. I do not know how the model of Bandai is in comparision. Would be interesting to see.

The cockpit detailing on a paper model depends on the model maker's ability. I have seen paper model cock pits, with gauges of all kinds that look like the real thing, (and some that look like crap too!), not so much with plastic. They are usually raised and indented surfaces that you must embellish to bring to a higher standard, like a paper model. Show us a picture of the cockpit? I'd be curious to see if they have done better on the bigger models, where there is better opportunity for that. I had a huge F-14 model that had a very detailed imprinted cockpit. It cost me $30 dollars in brushes to be able to get in there, and that was 25 years ago! :)

I have the big Revell, too. I'm Revell-Fan, and Revell fan, so no Revell collection without their biggies. :D ;)

This is the largest injection molded commercial X-Wing model you can get and it is a lot of fun. The cockpit is okay but can be enhanced. However, the wings are not so straight on mine. Not bad if you like to display it in attack mode, rather bad if you would like to show it with her wings closed. Yesterday I got their new Star Destroyer. It is awesome (unless you look at the bottom :D ). Even though I was thinking, we could need a good one made of paper... Say, a 60 cm one? :)

Hi togther,
enclosed some pics of the cockpits of the plastic models.
First two are from the description of the Bandai model. In comparison with the Revell Model (pic 3 to 7) the model of Bandai is smaller as Revell-Fan mentioned but it has at least the joystick.
The model of Revell has no pilot included where the model of Bandai has.

....and yes, the wings do not close completely - but as Revell-Fan said: not bad in attack mode.
