    Hello, fellow warriors!

I know I shouldn't work on too many projects at the same time but I simply couldn't resist to give you this one. This time it is not BSG but Star Wars: the Imperial Juggernaut aka Clone Turbo Tank from Episode III. Interestingly, the original concept was developed by Joe Johnston shortly after Episode IV and almost became the AT-AT from "The Empire Strikes Back". The CTT was rejected mainly because it would have moved too fast. The Hoth rebel base would have been conquered within minutes which would have shortened the movie a lot. So they chose another concept featuring legs instead of wheels (which also looked a lot cooler ;-) ). So the CTT was kept behind bars for nearly three decades. Fortunately many unused concepts for the old trilogy were used in the second trilogy, and since this vehicle is the immediate predecessor of the AT-AT (one of my favourite SciFi designs), it was only a matter of time when I decided to tackle this one.

As far as I know there is no CTT paper kit or model available at this time, so this one is another world premiere. It is based on a nice SketchUp model by abdyla I accidentally found on the Warehouse site. Unfortunately it is a bit flawed. The geometry has to be reworked extensively to get a usable pattern. There are many open edges and double faces. In addition, certain design elements have to be changed or rebuilt to match the original concept (most obvious: the blocky wheels and the missing second cockpit).

However, the great texture and the overall look convinced me to choose this one as a basis. I have attached some pics of the original *.skp model. I have scaled down the plans for the test build to save paper and ink if something has to be changed. The final model will be 41 cm / 16,5" long (and could be used to build an RC model..!!!).

Very interesting concept. Looking closely at it, I noticed that the wheels look like they can not turn to make the vehicle turn a corner. I could be wrong, but that is what it looks like to me.

Now as a model, You are doing a GREAT job (as always, of course). It looks really good.

Maybe it scrub (skid) steers? It actually works well if you don't care about ripping up the terrain.

Hello, nice to see you here, too!

I intend to build a static model. However, it should be possible to make the wheels move and add a movable axis. BTW, the small cockpit you see in the pics represents the aft section and not the front.

    CU!

    Hello there!

The CTT is on hold for the moment because I am working hard on the BSG Colonial Movers and the Buck Rogers Thunderfighter mods. But rest assured, I always finish what I've begun. I just need more TIME.....!!!! :p:p:p

I salute you. When I see more than 4 tires (or engines) I start to loose interest. But, this is one awesome looking build.
