It was bright and sunny here in Charlotte and I thought, why not, take some pictures of some of the diesels in the Ballantyne roster. Hope you see one that's your favorite RR line and the photo does the diesel justice.

Chessie - that would be a very smooooooth running C-Liner made by LifeLike. One of their Proto-N models and boy does that one run smooth, which is good since I have it pulling passener cars on observation and excursion trips. I only wish I bought the matching powered B unit too. LifeLike nscale diesels have really improved IMHO from only a few years ago. That GP20 Santa Fe is a Proto-N as are the two GP-60's (EMD and SP) and they all run extremely well with a great amount of detail. The LifeLike's seem to run great right out of the box, whereas some of my Atlas diesels need a few hours of track time before they run smoother. I think the Kato's have the best motors, but honestly, LifeLike is giving them a run for their money. Again, just my humble opinion, but Kato better start improving the detailing on their diesels because what Atlas and LifeLike offer at less money is better detailed than any Kato's (BNSF/NS SD70's and CP AC4400's). The Athearns (BNSF and CN SD70/75 units) look great but their motors require much more power to move them along than any of the others. The InterMountain diesels (FT A-unit and SD40T-2) have the most detailing right out of the box - right down to real grab irons and wipers. But hey - this is just my opinion.

Thanks for taking the time to view them and the kind words. It was fun getting them out and taking one quick picture while the sun was just right. And I know most of these engines need weathered even if it's just a little bit...just haven't gotten the time. (Maybe instead of taking pictures - I should be weathering my diesels!) This wasn't the whole engine roster...maybe some other day I'll take pic of the rest and add it to these.

Thanks again everyone.

Actually cn nutbar, one of my fav's is the CN SD70i...I love those CN colors. :thumb:

Yep Deano, there's actually more :D but I really felt bad about posting so many in the first place. :eek:ops: I just had the sun and thought I'd snap a few which led to a few more and a few more. My LHS is waiting on the arrival of a Precision Craft E8 in UP colors...and no one has spoken for it. From what I understand, they are really nice looking and accurate models. Might think long and hard about adding that one to the roster as I already have the matching passenger consist for the "executives special". I'd ask for your opinion ...but I think I already know what your advice would be. :thumb:

That's a Kato model dressed out in one of the Heritage merger paint schemes. This apparently was a one-of-a-kind paint scheme that only 9647 had taking BN executive colors combined with the war bonnet design.

Cool, thanks for the info. Maybe eventually I can add that to my BN collection, along with my Kato SD70MAC with the executive paint. Those would look great next to each other
