I picked up four sets of the Kato RDCs when Caboose hobbies was clearing them out for $33.00 a set.

When they arrived I took one set apart to see whart made them tick. The $33.00 price tag allows a person to get brave and the price made me look at them as a parts souce for other projects.

Well the geared trucks and driveshafts got me thinking they could be used in a Shay. The following picture is what I ended up with once I bashed everything together using parts from my junk drawer.

    YHR #7

Cool bratch (yes, my new term for scratch/bash). Please refer to this new verbage for all similar items - do you thinks it will make it in Funk & Wagnels dictionary?

I will be posting photos of my plans and scratch buidling of the Stupplefield shay and also Gilpin # 1 as time progresses. The Stupplefield shay will be first and then Gilpin # 1. For thoses whom are building smaller shays in 1:24 - 20.# scale, the small Tamiya RC bevel gears are perfect for the drivelines on the shays. About $4.00 a pair.

    Once again, nice job.
