these nigerin's have been hitting people up all over the net on web boards with a buy and sell . i thought i would post this for you all.

That is a good thing to watch out for, especially those that post in the Buy/sell/trade forum. The most obvious scam is that the cashier's check is phony. There is a big scam right now where the checks are made out for more than the sales amount and they buyer asks for cash back. The money is deposited in your account within a day or so, but the check takes a few weeks to clear, and when it doesn't, your account is debited, usually after you send the excess money back and your product has been "picked up".

It is interesting that they ask for all the info, including a final price, and then make out a cashier's check so that there will be cash to send back...???

Yeah, they do that, but usually on big ticket items. One scam that they've talked about here is that someone in another country buys your vehicle and sends you a couple of thousand extra to send to their "shipper" for shipping charges. You deposit the "cashier's check" and send a check to the shipper, who in fact isn't one and you're out whatever you sent them. You can be out the shipping charges and the vehicle, or just the vehicle, but either way, you lose.

they have been running ebay and pay pal in to the ground the last couple of months they will bid on an item and use a credit card to pay for it on pay pal and after you send the item and it is on it's way they stop payment on it and you out all the way around.

I guess that's one reason I have never bought or sold anything on eBay. You can get great deal after great deal, then get stung once and the rest of the deals aren't so good anymore if you add them all up. I don't care which way it is; buy something and they send junk or nothing at all, sell something and you don't get paid. Bad deal all around.

Do what I do....
I've kept a copy of both the "Nigerian" letters and the "European Lottery Winner".
When I get a "Nigerian"(China is another one I've been getting), I send them a copy of the "European Lottery Winner"...and visa versa.
Did it for a month. Haven't gotten either in a couple of weeks.
Also...On the news the other night. There is an IRS scam, originating in Italy.
