Overfunded, underbrained, nervous and very dangerous. All from the city who's lax airport security unleashed 911 on the US. We are now suffering from the hole in the Ozone being filled with Gas from the Bozones..., Global Warming with a political attitude???

Funny thing is that they(those "bombs") have been out for over a month in several cities............... Makezine has been talking about them for at least that long.

I think some "bright" politcian figured that with enough publicity they could get some money out of someone............ NOW remember most of our elected officals are lawyers AND who better to figure out how to get something for nothing than a lawyer realizing he can sue somebody!

Kind of makes me believe that the 'other side' is winning the 'war!'.

If the objective was to make US citizens have less freedoms, then the objective is being met.

John, as to lawyers, I have been advocating that we ship all of them to China.

The sad fact is that sometimes packpacks and other odd things do hold bombs. Wasn't too many years ago that a disgruntled person set one off down in Atlanta during the Olympics. Then there was our friend the Unabomber, who liked to mail little 'gifts' to unsuspecting folks. It's not just foreign terrorists --but the home grown type--like McVeigh and others...who have changed the way people do business forever.

Those stupid signs may have been harmless, promoting some inane show on Cartooon Network, but if they'd just taken the time to OK the promotion with the local authorities--nothing would have happened. Other than the fact that the sign was intentionally crude and insulting--I doubt that most motorists would have know what the promotion was about, anyway. I really think that it was intended to provoke, in order to gain free advertising though the news media.

We live in a different world now. Violence is glorified, Human life is trivialized. Rude and crude behavior is the norm. Technology has grown at a tremendous pace, and the rules that govern human behavior have not managed to keep up. By pushing the limits of civilized behavior, we have forced a change in the rules, and not to the better. Even in our little card model world, we have to deal with pirates, and other assorted internet freebooters. Pogo once said: "We have met the enemy, and it is us"

Until this country, (and the rest of the world) undergoes a spiritual and moral re-awakening--we can expect to see more an more restrictions placed on our lives, because, the first time the gov't fails to react to a real threat--the accusations start to fly, and even more draconian measures are put into place. Just look at the aftermath of 9/11 for a good example.

It's all about doing the right thing--BECAUSE IT'S THE RIGHT THING--not because it's law, or we've found a loophole, or everybody condones it...Unfortunately human nature is such that this is quite unlikely to happen in my lifetime...the easy road is the road most traveled.

Actually, I think it would be ok to see these guys get some punishment, even jail. I mean, where do they get off thinking they have the right to go around the city sticking devices in public areas, like under bridges on major highways, and so on? However stupid the cops are, these guys took it too far, and it wasn't about free speech or anything, it's an advertisement.

You know, the punishment they get (if any) will probably be worth it to them for all the free adveritsing they have received. Every news program showed the litebrite giving the finger. How often can you see that on national tv? Kinda makes me think it may have been somewhat intentional....
  10. Peter T Davis

Peter T Davis Guy Behind the Curtains

It might be worth it to the multi-national corporation that these guys were working for, but it will hardly be worth it to the guys who did it.

i don't the 2 guys should be hold for it !! The ad people for the idea should have thought more cleary on before doing it , i under stand that we live in a diffent world now , but you still have better odds of getting hit by lighting then being in a attack !!!

Yea, and more people die from drunk drivers, heart attacks, cancer, etc.... but that doesn't mean that we should say it's ok for people to strap devices on bridges, at subway stations, and in whatever other public area they would like. Harmless, or harmful, it's wrong and they should be brought to justice. As I said, it'd be ok with me to see them do some jail time. And, their corporation should pay the bills, for sure.

Fine them for disturbing the peace, or littering. That's all I can think of so far, so many laws though.

Not BIG news because............... they can not charge a big corporation (Turner Broadcast Corp) with millions of dollars in fines for planting hoax devices.

Heck people have been "tagging" public building, bridges, telephone pole with stuff for a loooong time! Graffiti, garage sale posters, Cheap viagra posters, crap in general............. looking at these (and I mean actual ones removed BEFORE the city went crazy) on, these things did not have wires and electronics gizmos sticking out............ they were FLAT circuit boards with LEDs and resister and batteries on them............ very basic parts to make the LEDs light up. AND actual very professionally build not thrown together devices intended to work only one time. AND ALSO again these things had been up and working for almost a MONTH.......
That doesn't instill a warm and fuzzy feeling in me, that it took that long for the people tasked with the job of protecting us to notice a "bomb". Heck if it was a real bomb they would have exploded way before anyone noticed.

Yes there are folks in this world who would, will and have done America and Americans harm just because they don't like us, or blame us for something, but come on guys........... some common sense needs to be used sometimes.

If these politicians are that worried about terrorist setting bombs in their city, they need to remove whatever part of their body they think with from out between their butt cheeks and start paying attention or else we are going to have an explosion and people will get hurt.

Charge these guys with littering, trespassing(maybe), and posting bills on public property........... charge the city politicians with STUPIDITY and GREED!

And elect someone with a little common sense.........please.

I was told once by a very wise business man this:

The funny thing about common sence is, thats it's not very common.

Sad to say. But you Will NEVER elect someone with Common sense!!!
    They just CAN"T exist together!
Polititions are Greedy & Corrupt Period!
Those with common sense run the other way when asked to run for political office.(Or if they run for office, They get NO votes, nobody believes their statements)

Where do they get off? I thought this was the land of the free, the home of the brave! A lot of people talk about this as if their intent was to create a scare. It was an advertisement! They tried to do something that was innovative a different. I think it speaks VOLUMES that these advertisements were in nine other cities, for weeks, and no-one found them suspicious.

I would rather be exposed to the inconveniences attending too much liberty than those attending too small a degree of it.
    -Thomas Jefferson

America will never be destroyed from the outside. If we falter and lose our freedoms, it will be because we destroyed ourselves.
    -Abraham Lincoln

We do live in a different world, a world in which our Government is trying to "protect" us with things like the Patriot Act, Guantanimo, the Military Tribunal Act; with people like Attorney General Alberto Gonzales, who recently argued to congress, IN ALL SERIOUSNESS, that the Constitution does not inherently give us a right of habeas corpus, Mr. Gonzales argued that the inability to revoke a right from any citizen did not guarantee that citizen of the right in the first place.

Any society that would give up a little liberty to gain a little security will deserve neither and lose both.
    -Benjamin Franklin

I personally do not believe the terrorists have won, but when paranoia starts getting the better of our society, I think terrorism, at least for the moment, is winning.
