It's softer than foam, which means it is also quieter, but not quite as firm in holding things in place--if you use nails you'll have to be a bit more careful about not distorting your flextrack by shoving in the nails too far. It works well with glue, though, and it is very flexible material that doesn't crack or get crumbly like cork.

Hi Guys, I used it on my layout and it is much quiter and easy to work with.
It reminds me of driving on a new road.
I would say give it a try.
