Okay, should be done by the end of the week.

As such, just need 3 Beta builders to give it a dry run.

So if you're interested simply PM me with your email addy.

    Ren Plans complete :)

Ren Hoek kit now complete, just (very bare) instructions to do.

No takers for a Ceta build as yet (not Beta as previously stated), but no probs as in no mad rush to release - having plenty fun with my new prototype model (and no it's not Stimpy)

It may help you to know however that the Ren kit is only 7 pages and is probably my easiest model yet to build. He also makes a great pal for Marvin (he's the same height minus the helmet and looks like he could exist in the same universe).

    Cheers Telman :thumb:

I'll try scratch some basic instructions together and get them along with the kit to you Fri/Sat.

    Best regards

BTW Ren stands 11.5" tall - here's a pic of the new dynamic duo together

    Kit ready to go.

    Okay Telman and Amazyah

Plans and instructions now complete, but for some reason publishing to pdf from Corel is whacking up the file size tenfold

Add that to the fact that I'm on dial-up and it means I'll have to wait till I get into work before I send them your way (it's only about 2Mb in total, but a real pain without Broadband - even browsing this forum is like wading through internet treacle).

So fingers crossed you should receive them tomorrow.

    Best regards and thanks again.

Do you have the full version of Acrobat? What about Distiller? If so, you should be able to get your PDF file down to a managable size.

No probs - kits uploaded and on their way.

As for the pdf, I simply create by publishing to "pdf for web" from Corel.

Usually this causes a good reduction in the file size, but I reckon what might be happening is that dotted lines (for the folds) are not exporting as single lines that are dotted, but as a series of small lines, thus increasing the number of objects significantly...

Anyone have any ideas - I can send the Corel file if anyone wants a play.

BTW - Pretty busy ATM, but at some point I must to do a happy helmet as an accessory - and don't ever let me forget it

Hmm... do you have Photoshop or an equivilant? You might be able to open it up in there and fiddle with the resolution a little to get it down. Though the down side to that is that you can only do that one page at a time and by bringing it into a program like Photoshop, your art becomes bit-mapped instead of vector. Another option could be to try to print the file as a postcript (.ps) or .eps file. I doubt that they be any smaller, but if it is at a managable size to email, I have Distiller, and could, in theory, create a smaller PDF with that.

As you say either way I lose the vector format, which is what's keeping the original Corel file size low (a tiny 118kb).

Like I say, I'm fairly certain that it's the dotted lines that are doing the damage - still at just over 1Mb it's workable.

    Regards and thanks

You can never have too many Test Builders  (well you probably can, but 4 is well within the limits of acceptibility).

    Plans on the way.

    Best Regards

Oh well. 1MB is pretty managable. I look forward to seeing the final version. I just finished building your Marvin and I am throughly impressed with the engineering that went into it. Bravo! And Ren is looking to be another masterpiece. :thumb:

    Pirate Beta Tester.

It's been brought to my attention that one of the Beta testers has uploaded the model to Rapidshare, or has at least sent the model to someone who has.

It's unfortunate that this has happened.

I can definately discount Amazyah, but can only speculate as to which of the other Beta builders it was.

It annoys me that a model that will be released very shortly free of charge has been leaked when changes still need to be made

Can I ask whoever it was who shared or uploaded the file to track down the uploader and take down the link.

As it is I will have to be more careful about who I am prepared to send files to in the future, which is a great shame as some new members with just 1 or two posts have done awesome jobs for me in the past.

    Sad Regards

I hope that this unfortunate occurrence doesn't discourage you from designing models. I have not personally built your Marvin the Martian model, but I plan to build Ren as soon as you have officially released it.

It's amazing that some people would be so impatient to get something that will be offered for free in the near future.

    Keep up the good work!
