At last some progress photos. These were taken from the backside of the layout.I apologize for the picture quality. My room had multiple light sources and getting a real good picture is a little difficult
First up is a clean out track. I read in one of MR's special issues where some railroads had a track to steam clean the inside of a box car. This was done if a shipper requested a clean car.

Next up is the freight unloading track. It has a platform and a traveling crane.I'm not sure if I want the crane to run side to side or on a slight angle top to bottom. I'm leaning towards top to bottom. This way freight can be unloaded from either flat cars or gondolas and stacked against the fence.

Last is the Judge and Jury oil company. This company sells both heating and lubricating oil. There is a pump house near the track for unloading tank cars. There will also be a station for loading trucks.I haven't placed that as yet. I also need to drill holes for the fence.

Cool! My Dad spent 30 years as a Carman, but had to start out as a Carman Laborer, working a very simiar cleanout track (Western Pacific Stockton called it "the Service Track". He cleaned and prepped many boxcars over the years!

Great scene, the layout is shaping up very nicely. Keep us posted with progress shots please!

Thanks again for the reply. I hope to have some photos by the weekend. I am trying to finalize the location of the structures on the front side of the layout. Bob
