Plans for a hand-laid crossing

Can anyone refer me to a article on hand-laying a crossover. The layout I wish to construct calls for a 14 degree crossover which can be obtained from BK Enterprises, but there is a 5 month wait for the kit.:cry: Any help is appreciated!!!
