I have just got some 16mm scale (1:19) unpainted people, and would like advice as to best colours and make for skin tones. Some of the passengers are to be Caucasian, some African-American and some south Asian - so advice welcome for all three.
Do folk mostly prefer acrylic or enamel for painting figure models?

Friend of mine has this site:

He uses tube acrylics after spraying with basic black.
The base coat may depend on what your figures are made of -- some plastics (old Airfix figures) didn't take any type of paint. I've found that if the base coat sticks, most other paints hold to it. Metal figures, I would start with a Floquil.
I don't have suggestions for colours.

I start with a flesh tone and tint it with either yellow or brown to get to the desired color. Just add a little at a time.
